Thunder Down Under?

misc - travel the world
One of my dream trips is to travel down under. My old boss, Leanne, went on a New Zealand and Australia trip while I worked for her and I drooled over all of her photos. I can totall picture me riding around in a Jeep, checkin' out kangaroos. Eatin' some shrimp off the barbie. And whatnot.

Of course, I'd need to scout out some hotels in Brisbane to stay in. Sadly, I don't seem to have any online friends who live there who could hook me up!

After a few days in Australia, it'd be a hop, skip, and a jump to the other island, but I'd be needing an Auckland accommodation as well. Obviously I'd be hunting the internet for the best deals on these I could get.

And can I just say... I'd have to be finding me an Australian man while I was there. Can I shop for those online too? (Don't answer that!)

What's on your Christmas list?

  • Nov. 17th, 2009 at 10:02 PM
holiday - around the tree
I am working on MY Christmas list right now. My family wants to know a few things I want. I'm trying to throw some fun things on there, not just all work clothes and things for moving, and stuff like that. Maybe makeup or jewelry, or... I'm thinking shoes. Hot silver sandals, perhaps? Completely not work appropriate ones, of course. They don't have to be silver... maybe red. Black? How about these:

Hmmm. Could I walk in those? Hahahaha. But they are HOT. Really, any of these daniblack sandals would be awesome on my Christmas list. I really like this website's shoes. All of them are fun, whimsical, and sexy! That's what I'm looking for right now. Shoes to go out and party in! They're also very fashion forward, which is what I would like to move towards with my wardrobe. It's time for me to really update my closet, start getting nicer items, and build a really good collection. I'm thinking some of the tall CFM boots are needed (and hey, I could use those at work too, under pants where their sexiness is concealed). My current CFM boots are peeling apart. It's really sad. So on the Christmas list it goes!

What's your favorite? Put it on YOUR list!

Holiday shopping begins!

holiday - holly jolly christmas
Have you guys started your Christmas shopping? I've got all my best friends covered, but what I haven't gotten yet are presents for any of the toddlers in the family. Not to mention the younger boys and girls.

ShopWiki has some awesome shopping guides to help me out. I don't have any kids, so it's not like shopping for them is my forte! This guide for boy's clothes reminds me that they really need to stand up to a lot and be durable enough to last through playtime and the washing machine. Also they have to fit for more than a few weeks, hopefully mesh with school dress codes, and be comfortable for the child. That helped me find these awesome choices for my little cousins:

A THREE DOLLAR rugby shirt, and khakis to go with:

Meanwhile, there's one little girl I needed help with. The girls shopping guide told me that there are so many fashions available for girls, it's easy to get bogged down. So the strategy is to start from the tops and tees, and move your way to pants and dresses.

So I started with the tops, and then I found a skort to go with it.

But before I make a decision, parents -- help me out. What would you rather your kids get for Christmas? Winter clothes or spring clothes?

School lockers take you back

Remember School Lockers? I had them in 7th and 8th grade, in my homeroom class. Maybe you only had Gym Lockers. We used them, but we didn't have our own. I always tried to have PE last period (or get out of it completely hahahaha) so that I didn't have to shower after! Smart!

There are many reasons why someone might want to buy lockers these days. Maybe you work for a school or an after-school program and you need them for your facility? Maybe you're nostalgic? (Then I'd recommend going really old school and getting Wood Lockers like our parents had!) Or maybe you want to use it as a decorative statement in your house.... or a fully practical one? My pal Nikki just had triplets -- all boys! Add that to big brother Caleb and she's almost got a basketball team! (I think her husband thinks he's got his band now.) I could totally see a locker or two being super helpful in the boys' room.

Check out these lockers for sale and see if there's anything you like! These are the kind that bring me back!

Designer clothes at Zappos

Last week, Brooke totally lucked out and got some Lucky Brand jeans at a thrift store! Isn't that amazing? One of my Mission 101 goals is to eventually own a pair of designer jeans, but of course if I'm going to spend that much on a pair, I want them to be in my goal size. So I haven't gotten a pair yet. But did you know that you can get Lucky Brand stuff on Zappos? Not just jeans, either! Here are some cute tops:

I've also been checking out the Lucky Purses, of course. Here's some I like:

Since these come from Zappos, I know they'll come with the awesome customer service I've come to expect with Zappos - they've always been amazing with everything I've ordered from them. I was so excited to see Lucky Brand clothes available through their website.

Happy shopping!

Beauty time!

misc - girly girl (not)
I've been thinking I need to start checking out some beauty products and really taking the time to take care of my appearance. Not just for the eventual dating game, but to look and feel better at work, and just for my own self worth. I was checking out this website that Brooke absolutely loves and orders from all the time, BeautySak.com. She loves how they send you a little beauty sak with every order!

One of Oprah's Favorite Things is the Kai Body line. They capture the irresistible fragrance of the tropics. Ooooh, the tropics. I could get some body butter to make me so soft and smell amazing.

And then, on to my hair. We all know I'm a little over-crazy about my hair. The Molton Brown line of products includes some really nice looking handwashes and lotions, as well as shampoos and conditioners. I think the Purifying Plum line would be something I'd be interested in. I'd like to try this Liquid Keratin, which nourishes and replenishes damaged and chemically treated hair. Unlike salon treatments, Liquid Keratin does not contain Formaldehyde or harmful chemical ingredients. I'd also grab some of these Keratin Complex products as well. My hair will be SO strong and shiny!!

It's definitely high time I take more of an interest in this stuff. What would YOU buy from BeautySak.com?

I cannot get my mind off of Myrtle Beach! Seriously, I am ready to start planning my vacation. It's just the most perfect place to go - warm and tropical, beaches and bathing suits. I was just myself browsing Myrtle Beach Hotels. I'd love to stay in a Myrtle Beach Accommodation like this:

The sun, tropical drinks....aaaah. My paradise. There are tons of sweet Myrtle Beach Accommodations. South Carolina seems like the PERFECT place to visit. It's time to book a romantic getaway for two!

Now who wants to be my Prince Charming?

I love having poker parties. We had big, huge parties with snacks and 10 people tournaments. I even won some of the time! Well, only when everyone else got really drunk, hahaha. I started out like any newbie but after watching some Poker Videos and learning tactics using some Poker Tools.

It's doing things like studying a Poker Odds Chart that really gives you the edge. My friend Chris can just look at a pot, look at his hand, and know in a split second to keep playing or not. That's what really keeps you in a game. I've gotta keep working on it before I can beat him! Or just keep giving him beer. ;)

A little known thing about me, I actually really love live sporting events. I'm not much for sports on TV, but TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME, BABY! Of course, now that we're in the 21st century, shopping for tickets online is the way to go. I just checked out Blue Cross Arena Tickets for some great deals.

I definitely would love to go to a football game, and who better to see than DA BEARS. LOL. You can definitely get Chicago Bears Tickets for great prices online, saving you enough money to buy a big foam finger!

While I'm at it, I'd love to go visit my Philly friend Jenn and get some Philadelphia Eagles Tickets, some nachos, and some beer. Maybe some chili cheese fries. Sounds like a great night to me!

Seriously guys. I see some sporting events in my future.

It's been a really busy and stressful few months, and I'm dreaming of the beach. I'm NEEDING a vacation. So I popped online, looking for a beach vacation, and found a ton of Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Resorts!

Now me, I prefer resorts to hotels. What can I say, I've got expensive taste. :P But I can't even pick which one of these Beach Resorts Myrtle Beach I'd want to stay at most! The photos are absolutely gorgeous.

Wouldn't you want this room?

Aaaaaaah, that looks like heaven.

Hey, Myrtle Beach Resorts? Wanna give me a free vacation? :)

Custom cards

In years past, I've always sent out picture Christmas cards, but they've been of David and myself. I love photos, and I loved Christmas cards, so it was an obvious fit.

This year, if I want to send out picture cards, I'll have to put a photo of my lovely fur child, Jasmine! She's cute enough for a card, at least! One great way to get unique cards would be to order them through a company like Picture Me Perfect. They have template designs to use OR you can contact them to make a custom one just for you! They do all sorts of cards, from birthday to holiday to birth announcements... and just look how cute:

Definitely give them a look if you're considering Christmas cards this year!

I love TV in waiting rooms

I really like it when businesses have Big Screen TVs in their waiting room. There's one in my knee doctor's office that plays Commercial Direct TV and it is awesome! Considering I sometimes have to wait quite a while to see my knee surgeon (surgeons are busy guys, you know), it really distracts me. In fact, 90% of subscribers believe Directv Businessincreases their business!

No matter what kind of business you run, Direct TV for Business could really increase customer satisfaction. Say you own a Bar, Restaurant, Casino or Lounge. You'd want a package with sports, music, and news, probably. How about a gym? Also sports and news, but maybe also prime time shows so you atttract exercisers who don't want to miss Gossip Girl on Monday nights (like me!) There are tons of places that would benefit from Direct TV Business. Off the top of my head, I can also think of salons, banks, doctor's offices, dentist's offices, coffee shops...

I really appreciate it when any of those types of businesses make sure I'm entertained when I wait. Makes me a happy customer!

Ever heard the expression, "Worth your weight in gold"? Ever wonder why that IS an expression in the first place? Because gold is such a precious commodity!

If you were ever to purchase gold or purchase bullion, that would be a very wise investing decision. You'd have something real to show for your money savings, something that could be worth more later. Plus, there is real importance of providing protection to one's assets, especially in such an uncertain world.

So where would one go to purchase gold coins or gold bullion? Well, like most things these days, the internet!

To purchase gold coin, go here (Click on picture):

But you know the #1 best reason to purchase gold coins? So you can feel like a PIRATE! In fact, I'm going to wear a pirate hat on Halloween this Saturday! How cool would it be to have real gold to go along with it?

Online stock trading

So those of you that are invested in the market, does your broker charge crazy fees? Is it making you not want to buy or sell because of how much you'll pay to do so? I bet you're nodding your head. Have you ever considered Online Trading? And more than that, not just doing it yourself, but getting an Online Broker?

Firstrade is an online brokerage firm that allows customers to trade Stocks, Options, Mutual Funds, ETFs and Fixed Incomes at competitive costs. All the service, none of the travel and appointment time, and a much smaller price.

For example, when you start Stock Trading, you get 100 free trades! No fees whatsoever. From then on, it's a flat fee of $6.95 for trades, no matter how much you're buying or selling. That's a great deal.

If you're unhappy with the exorbitant fees your broker is charging, check out Firstrade. Cuz everything on the internet is better!

Trade show exhibits

When I worked the Wedding Expo in the past few years, that was my first exposure to trade show exhibits. There is a LOT of work that goes in to making those lovely booths that the consumer walking around the show doesn't even think about!

If you're hosting a trade show, or even just working a booth at one, you should check out these table covers. Show owners - you can order in bulk and get them all to match. Or if it's every booth for themselves, you can get your logo printed on them, or even a full color print. Those are gorgeous. I'm picturing a wedding photographer's booth with a table covering of a fantastic print!

If you do a lot of shows, you'd want to get a table top display and some nice directors chairs just for ease and simplicity. Setting up a booth can be hard work and very tedious. But if you have a display that you just set up and put your items on it, it's simple and very effective!

Trade shows are fantastic for drumming up business. Now that I'm a full R.D., I'll be participating in shows to get new clients. I'll definitely want a good table cover and display case for those!

So you guys know that with this divorce, I really need a way to repair credit, and also improve credit so I can buy a house saomeday!

I found this credit repair services website, and they can handle everything! They can help improve your credit score, remove bad items from your credit, and help you get approved for home loans. They have handled every bad situation you can think of, from bankruptcies to foreclosures to collections. They're professionals.

This economy is really bad, but I keep hearing that it is the right time to buy a house if you can afford it because market prices are so low. Maybe if you were able to improve credit and get approved, you'd be able to get into a home even now, when times are tough! Check them out and see!

Maybe one near cool places -- like these hotels near Union Square SFO. Perfect. Cuz look how awesome Union Square is:

We'd shop, shop, shop out our hearts content, and then we'd head out to Fisherman's Wharf. If you need information about things to do, I've got it all right here.

Seriously, this would be your favorite trip ever. Just ask Andrea, she came out here from Alabama to visit Jess and myself and she had a BALL. She loved Fisherman's Wharf. So what are you waiting for??

From all the years that David has been giving out free algebra help as a tutor, I've learned a lot about how to solve math problems. But not everyone is as lucky as I was to have someone there to help with math all the time!

The resources out there for students these days is amazing. They can get free college algebra help if they need it. They can even get tutored from home if they sign up for some free online math help.

Math is tough, whether you're in kindergarten or college. Not everyone is a natural born math problem solver! But you shouldn't miss an opportunity - help math work for you. Passing math classes and learning important math skills is so important for the future and all job opportunities. So whether you're in kindergarten or college, if you need tutoring, get some free online math help now.

I was thinking about getting one of these stone benches to memorialize my grandfather. I was really devastated when he died, and I am still mourning the loss. They are beautiful garden benches like this:

What better way to memorialize s a loved one than stone garden benches? You can sit on them and think about the one you lost. You'd feel closer to them every time you were there. It would be a special place.

I really like the memorial benches with the stars. It's very "me" because I love stars, and I think I would feel closest to him with this one.

How did we ever live without the internet? Seriously.

Just a few days ago, I was talking with someone about how I can even remember in junior high, one of my classmates gave a speech on the "World Wide Web" and I had NO IDEA what it meant at all. We could talk to computers in other places of the world? What?

I just found a site that pretty much encapsulates the entirety of the internet into one place:
JustClickLocal.com. You can find anything you want to know about your town or a town you're interested in.

I checked out where my grandparents live: Charlotte, NC. There are zillions of options there! Here near where my friend Holly lives in Pittsburgh, PA, I can get a list of nutritionists and doctors in the area. Like if I wanted to move there and find somewhere to work. :P

What about if I were on vacation in Miami, FL and I wanted to go to a hot night club? They're all there!

If you need to find local restaurants, dry cleaners, whatever, it's a one-stop shop. I love easy to use sites like this. :)
